How do I connect my inventory?
  1. Open Inventory and choose Connect inventory (or Connect on desktop).
  2. Choose Connect with Steam, or enter a Steam profile URL or SteamID64 and choose View public inventory. On desktop, expand Use a public profile to show the field.
  3. Return to SkinTally after Steam sign-in to load the collection.

Steam handles sign-in on its own page. SkinTally never receives your Steam password or Steam Guard code, and signing in does not make a private inventory public.

Discover and hypothetical trade-ups work without a Steam account. For public items, you can also choose Import items → Regular items → Load public inventory; no copying is needed.

Why are some items missing?

Steam can show you items that it leaves out of the public inventory response. An item being trade-locked does not tell you which import section it belongs to.

  • A recent Steam Market purchase: try Regular items → Import hidden regular items, even while it is trade-locked.
  • An item received in a trade: try the separate Trade-protected section.
  • An older import: it is a saved snapshot, not a live connection. Reopen or reload the Steam data page and import a fresh copy of each relevant section.
  • An incomplete inventory: finish every page in order using the next-page link SkinTally provides. Check the Steam profile, search text and active filters too.

Refresh public items with Refresh inventory. If Steam is temporarily limiting requests, wait briefly and retry. A public refresh cannot confirm all hidden items; a complete counted manual import replaces its saved section, while a limited response preserves missing saved items.

If an item appears in Inventory but not in Trade Up, check the contract's rarity and variant. After the first input, the picker only offers compatible items.

How do I import hidden or trade-protected items?

Open Inventory → Import items, or Settings → Import hidden / trade-protected items. Check the selected Steam profile first. Import only your own data.

Choose the right section

Trade-protected is for items received in trades. For hidden Steam Market purchases, choose Regular items → Import hidden regular items. These are separate imports; use both if you are missing items from both.

On iPhone: Safari Share

  1. Select iPhone · Safari Share. Tap Copy trade-protected Steam link or Copy regular Steam link for the section you chose. The button changes to Link copied ✓.
  2. Open Safari, paste into its address bar and tap Go. Sign in to the matching account at steamcommunity.com in Safari if needed, then reopen the data link. Signing in to the Steam app alone is not enough. A page full of text is normal.
  3. On that data page, tap Safari's Share button (the square with an up arrow), choose SkinTally, then Save import. If SkinTally is missing, use More in the row of app icons.
  4. Tap Done and return to the SkinTally app. In Add shared inventory, review the profile and item count, then choose Add to my inventory.

No Select All is needed. Safari Share requires the SkinTally iPhone app and saves into that app. To import into the website, use Copy & paste below instead.

On the website: Copy & paste

  1. Select Copy & paste, then Open protected inventory data or Open regular inventory data. Use a browser signed in to the matching Steam account.
  2. Click inside the data page and copy all its text: ⌘A, then ⌘C on Mac, or Ctrl+A, then Ctrl+C on Windows. Copy the page text, not its address.
  3. Return to SkinTally and paste into the text box. Choose Review import, check the preview, then Add to my inventory. Choose JSON file also accepts a saved inventory response.

On a phone, the Share-panel Copy all inventory data option above can supply the text without Select All, if the SkinTally app is installed. It copies only on that device; it does not transfer the inventory to a computer.

Follow any next-page prompt until the import is complete. Imported snapshots are processed on your device and stay there; they do not refresh or sync across devices automatically.

How do saved and shared trade-ups work?

Save and reopen

In Trade Up, use Choose skins to add inputs, then Save plan and give it a name. Unfinished contracts can be saved. Reopen one through Plans → Saved plans → Open plan.

Inputs, floats and entered costs are retained; outcomes and estimates are recalculated when you open the plan. A missing inventory item stays flagged for reference. Plans stay on this iPhone, or in this browser on this device, and do not automatically sync between them. Unsaved calculator inputs are not kept after an app restart.

Share a hypothetical copy

Choose Share contract after adding an input, or Share plan for a saved plan. Decide whether to include entered costs, then choose Copy trade-up link or Share via…. A short link opens the SkinTally website; if short links are unavailable, a longer link still works.

To use a received link, open it on the website or paste it into Trade Up → Plans → Import link. Review it, then choose Open a copy or Replace inputs and open copy. Save any current changes first; use Save plan to keep the imported copy.

Sharing sends the plan name, skin selections, variants, floats and optional costs to prepare the link. It excludes SteamIDs, owned asset IDs and login details. Anyone with the link can read and forward that copy. Deleting your local plan does not revoke a shared link; contact support with the link for hosted-copy removal.

The calculator never executes trades or consumes Steam items. Recipients use their own price and selling-fee settings; estimates can differ as markets change.

Why is a price missing or different?

A price may be missing when no matching listing is available, a provider is unavailable, or data is too old to use. SkinTally shows an unavailable state instead of treating a missing price as zero.

  • Match the skin's exterior, Normal/StatTrak/Souvenir variant and phase. Different selections can have different prices.
  • Check the named market and quote type. A current asking price and a historical sales estimate are different measures. If your preferred market has no matching quote, a labeled fallback may be used.
  • Prices are in USD; converted prices are approximate. Float, pattern, sticker and charm premiums are not fully captured by base market estimates.
  • In Trade Up, Selling fees changes output value and estimated difference. Check the before/after-fees label and your configured rate.

Open the skin's detail page to check the source, wear and update time. Wait briefly and retry if a provider is unavailable. Price estimates and trade-up probabilities are planning information, not a guarantee of sale proceeds or profit.

How do I delete my data?

Open Settings → Privacy & saved data → Delete my local data and confirm. This clears saved profiles, inventories, manual imports, favorites, saved plans, market/fee preferences and price caches from that app or browser.

On the website, other open SkinTally tabs reload to discard their copies. On iPhone, deletion also clears pending Safari imports and app caches. Repeat on each device or browser where you used SkinTally; there is no automatic cross-device deletion.

It does not delete your Steam items or account, sign Steam out of your browser, erase original JSON files, clipboard contents or device backups, or remove hosted shared-plan copies. Disconnect profile is not the same as deleting all saved data.

For a hosted shared-plan copy or support-email deletion, contact support. Removing a hosted link cannot erase copies already forwarded. See the privacy policy for storage and retention details.

How do I contact support?

Email SkinTally™ at skintally@gmail.com for help, questions or feedback.

Expected reply: 2–3 business days. Replies may take longer during busy periods.

For a problem report, include your app version, iPhone model or browser, what you expected, and the steps that caused the issue. A screenshot with account information hidden can help.

Never send a Steam password, Steam Guard code, API key, session cookie or your complete private inventory. You can describe missing items without sending your full inventory.
